The Wesley Foundation is a campus ministry located at East Tennessee State University. Our mission is to provide a safe Christian community that encourages spiritual and personal growth as students pursue God's call. We offer worship services, Bible studies, mission opportunities, and small groups throughout each semester. As well The Wesley is a place for students to come and hang out throughout the week and be a home away from home.

We are the presence of the United Methodist Church on campus however you do not have to be a United Methodist to attend. We are a part of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church and a part of the worldwide United Methodist Church. There are Wesley Foundations on many campuses throughout the country. Wesley Foundations claim ancestry in the founding "Holy Club" of the Methodist movement, a group of students at Oxford University guided by John Wesley in "methodical" (hence "Methodist") study, prayer, and self-discipline. The first Wesley Foundation was established October 13, 1913 at the University of Illinois. Bishop James C. Baker's work in organizing this first Wesley Foundation chose the name Wesley Foundation to emphasize two spheres of outreach. Wesley refers to John Wesley the founder of the Methodist Church and first campus minister at Oxford University. While Foundation was selected to mean an "open movement," an ecumencial movement available to all college students. We are open to all students on campus and want all students to be a part of the Wesley Foundation and to grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
