The ETSU Wesley Foundation is campus ministry affiliated with the United Methodist Church but is open to EVERYONE at East Tennessee State University. We welcome all denominations with open arms and many of our students are of other denominations. Our ministry aims to be a home away from home for college students where they can come worship, fellowship, and make friendships that will last a lifetime, in an atmosphere where they can grow closer to God.
Reaching and encouraging students to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ through community, discipleship, missions and servanthood.
I am an ordained Elder in the Holston Conference. I graduated from ETSU in 2010 and was active at the Wesley Foundation during my time here as a student. Wesley Foundation helped me discern a call to ministry and led me to attend Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. In seminary, I met my wife Margaret. She and I both graduated from Wesley Seminary in 2013. From 2013-2017, we served Ketron Memorial UMC in Kingsport and from 2017-2019, we served Surgoinsville First UMC in Surgoinsville. Margaret serves as the Director of Youth Ministry at Colonial Heights UMC. We have two children-- our daughter Ruby is 5 years old and our son Everett is a year old. We are excited to be a part of offering Christ and living into God’s grace as a faith community at ETSU Wesley.
Rebecca is a graduate of Milligan College and current Master of Divinity student at Emmanuel Christian Seminary. Her passions include underwater welding, mini-four-square, and inside-out-violining. She also loves hammocking in the everglades, roller skating on the sandy beaches of Delaware, and hanging out on the metal rails underneath train trestles. Her middle name should have been "Corgopherminx" or "Bloodwing 4000." Come hang out at Wesley and get to know our assistant director!
I graduated from ETSU with a degree in Mass Communications/ Photography shortly after graduation I married the talented Matt Sanders (in photo) who you will see leading worship in the band at Wesley. I am thankful to be able to use my talents at the Wesley Foundation too! I enjoy taking photos of happy people and my three "fur babies."- (Malcom , Foxy and Frankie) I look forward to meeting you and seeing what God has in store for The Wesley Foundation this year!
