  • To sign up to attend this trip, text Caleb at 423-330-8143 and sign the sign up sheet at Wesley.

  • Join us as we head back to Washington D.C. for a May mission trip! We will be staying at Shalom Place (3655 Calvert Street, NW, Washington, DC 20007). Shalom Place includes 2 rooms with 12 bunk beds in each room, 2 Showers & 3 separate restrooms. In total, there are 5 restrooms, and a larger kitchen with 2 refrigerators and a medium common space area. Cost for the trip is $200 (You can pay on either the Wesley PayPal on Venmo).   • We have rented a 15 passenger van for the trip. Transportation is provided on a first sign up, first serve basis. We plan to leave early on Saturday May 4th.

  • We will return to ETSU, the evening of Wednesday, May 8th, exact time to be determined. We cannot guarantee any ETA for Wednesday evening.

  • Luggage space may be limited due to the amount of people attending. Please try to pack lightly.

  • Everyone will need to purchase some of their own meals. Meals you will be responsible for include any stops and meals while commuting to DC and coming home. In addition, lunch and dinner each day will be everyone’s own responsibility. Some meals may necessitate packing a brown bag lunch, other times will be eating out. The four breakfasts provided will be coffee and pop tarts. We will stop at the grocery store when we arrive so that everyone can purchase their own snacks and lunch items.

  • Trip Schedule:

    • Saturday-
      Travel to Washington D.C. We will make frequent stops as needed and everyone is responsible for purchasing their own meals.

    • Sunday-
      9AM: Self-serve Breakfast
      11AM: Attending Church at National UMC Metropolitan Campus
      Group day in DC. We will do some sight seeing, etc.

    • Monday- Mission Day
      8AM: Self-serve Breakfast. Throughout the day we will be doing mission work with the Student Ministries Coordinator at National UMC. This work will include work in the community garden, cleaning around the church. etc.

    • Tuesday- Free Day in DC
      Everyone must stay with at least one other person from our group. Likely we will do things together as a group but we will split up and meet back together as necessary. We will try to help everyone see and do things in Washington that they would like to experience.

    • Wednesday- Travel Home
      8AM: Self-serve Breakfast. 9AM: Departure. We will make frequent stops as needed and everyone is responsible for purchasing their own meals.

  • Suggested Pack List

    • Comfortable Walking Shoes! (We will be doing A LOT OF WALKING)

    • Clothes for Church

    • Clothes for Work Mission Day

    • Pillow

    • Sleeping bag and or sheets and blanket for a twin bed

    • Sunscreen

    • Insect Repellent

    • Rain jacket- just in case

    • Jacket or Long-sleeves Shirt-for night time potentially

    • Towels/Wash Cloth/Soap/Shampoo

    • Clothing for cool weather/Fleece

    • Two pair of shoes
